Job description
Position Overview
The Assistant Hygiene Manager oversees and coordinates operational processes to ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations. This role involves advising on correct food handling techniques and delivering hygiene training sessions for new employees and trainees. The position is responsible for identifying critical risk points within food operations and implementing preventive measures. Additionally, the Assistant Hygiene Manager offers technical guidance regarding product labeling to meet government standards. They assist management with personnel functions including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, counseling, disciplinary actions, motivation, and coaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise food hygiene and safety operations ensuring they meet company and regulatory standards.
- Provide training and guidance on proper food handling to new hires and trainees.
- Identify risk areas within food operations and implement corrective actions proactively.
- Advise on product labeling to comply with government requirements.
- Support management activities related to employee recruitment, scheduling, evaluation, and employee motivation.
- Adhere to company safety, security policies, and report maintenance needs or unsafe conditions.
- Maintain a professional appearance and safeguard confidential information and company assets.
- Respond appropriately to guest service needs using professional communication.
- Foster positive teamwork and support collective goals within the department.
- Ensure all tasks comply with quality standards and expectations.
- Perform physical activities such as prolonged standing/walking, bending, lifting objects up to 25 pounds, and other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Environmental Health or Culinary Arts.
- Between 2 and 4 years of relevant work experience in food hygiene or related fields.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a supervisory role.
- No specific licenses or certifications required.
