Assistant General Manager - Electrical (EBOP & Grid O&M) Wind

Role Overview

This position involves overseeing the comprehensive maintenance and operational activities of power transmission infrastructure, including switchyards and pooling substations, with a focus on AIS/GIS equipment ranging from 33 kV to 400 kV. The candidate will lead complex teams across multiple locations and ensure compliance with utility and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct maintenance and operational management of electrical transmission systems such as switchyards and pooling substations.
• Manage and coordinate protection systems including relay coordination, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Oversee operations related to renewable energy assets, specifically wind and solar.
• Lead and develop extensive teams across varied locations effectively.
• Interface with utility companies and coordinate activities with SLDC and RLDC for compliance and grid management.
• Ensure the dependable functioning of high voltage equipment like Air Insulated Switchgear and utilize facilities such as Mechanical Time-Life Testing for reliability assessments.
• Maintain and supervise software procedures associated with SLDC systems including testing and commissioning.
• Collaborate with various departments to troubleshoot issues impacting reliability and system commissioning.
• Utilize strong knowledge in power system operations, focusing on 400kV switchyards and pooling substation configurations.

Required Skills and Experience

• 15 to 20 years of experience in electrical operations and maintenance, asset management, and grid operation roles.
• A minimum of 8 to 10 years’ leadership experience managing substations, transmission lines, and renewable evacuation systems.
• Hands-on experience with AIS/GIS substations in voltage ranges from 33 kV to 400 kV.
• Expertise in power system testing, commissioning, and relay protection coordination.
• Familiarity with software management for SLDC systems.
• Experience with power system reliability and asset lifecycle management.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Master of Technology specialized in Power Systems is preferable.
• Electrical Supervisor Competency Certificate is an advantage.
• Additional certification in Power System Protection or Reliability Engineering is highly valued.
