Assistant Estimator

Role Overview

Join a reputable and expanding consultancy in Glasgow as an Assistant Estimator, focusing on cost engineering for major infrastructure projects. This permanent, full-time position offers hybrid working flexibility and a salary range of £35,000 to £40,000 depending on experience. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for various infrastructure projects including highways, bridges, drainage, and water schemes.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents to support cost estimation efforts.
• Carry out quantity take-offs and manage Bills of Quantities effectively.
• Maintain updated estimating databases and manage project cost records.
• Collaborate with senior Cost Engineers in all phases of the estimating process.
• Work with project and engineering teams to ensure accurate and reliable cost data.
• Develop knowledge in estimating methodologies, cost planning, and risk assessment.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, or related fields.
• Assistant or graduate-level experience in estimation, quantity surveying, civil engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
• Background in estimating, quantity surveying, civil engineering, construction, or relevant design experience is valued.
• Strong numerical aptitude and analytical capabilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Genuine motivation to establish a career path in Cost Engineering.

Preferred Expertise

• Exposure to highways, bridges, civil engineering, infrastructure projects, drainage, water, structural elements, or temporary works is advantageous.
