Job description
About the Role
We are recruiting two Assistant Commercial Managers to join a prominent client team involved in one of Europe's largest infrastructure projects. This entry-level commercial position is ideal for graduate quantity surveyors seeking their second role who possess solid NEC contract administration experience and desire increased responsibility, exposure, and a clear path toward chartership.
Key Responsibilities
As part of an integrated client team collaborating with project managers and commercial leads, you will oversee and support the commercial performance of Tier 1 contractors by reviewing their work. Tasks include administering NEC contracts on a daily basis, managing early warnings, tracking compensation events, and assisting in change cost assessments. You'll participate in procurement reviews, validate subcontractor accounts, aid in settling final accounts, contribute to contract performance reporting monthly, and help maintain commercial control over live works packages.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have practical experience with NEC contract administration, specifically NEC3 or NEC4 contracts. A quantity surveying background is necessary, complemented by a strong desire to develop commercial expertise within complex infrastructure programs. Experience in infrastructure sectors such as highways, rail, utilities, or civil engineering is highly valued. Candidates with backgrounds in building or MEPH disciplines are also considered.
Professional Development
The client team supports candidates working toward their APC chartership, offering the necessary broad exposure and the opportunity to be seconded to a Contractor for qualification purposes.
