This position is based at our Corporate Office in Central Auckland, supporting the Hotel Accountant across multiple hotels. The role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong controls, and facilitating smooth accounting procedures within a hotel or multi-site context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily hotel revenue files and flash report balances; make corrections and distribute updated reports.
  • Monitor daily Accounts Receivable, Guest Ledger, and Advanced Deposit Ledger balances across hotels and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Send hotel bank statements daily for AR posting purposes.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily Accounts Payable workflow including payment reviews, query resolutions, and escalation of outstanding issues.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and alert to any discrepancies or unusual transactions.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations such as bank, debtors, creditors, prepayments, and fixed assets accounts.
  • Compile GST computations and returns for subsequent review and filing.
  • Assist with ad hoc reports, audit preparations, analyses, and other tasks as requested across the hotel portfolio.
  • Maintain well-organized and audit-ready documentation and working papers.
  • Provide backup support for AP and AR functions during absences or staffing gaps to maintain department efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable and Receivable teams, offering guidance and assistance when necessary.
  • Contribute to developing consistent, best-practice accounting processes.
  • Identify process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls within accounting operations.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven accounting experience in hotel, hospitality, or multi-site settings.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and a positive, focused approach.
  • Able to work independently while supporting senior financial leadership.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with departments and hotel operations.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance; progressing towards or holding CPA/CA certification preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in hotel accounting encompassing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and working knowledge of uniform accounting systems.
  • Familiarity and comfort in a hotel/hospitality or multi-site operational environment.
  • Excellent proficiency in English communication.
  • Advanced computer skills, especially Excel, MS Office, SUN System, Micros POS, and Opera PMS.
