Role Overview

The Asset Maintenance Operator will report directly to the Team Manager and is tasked with maintaining various public assets owned by the Queenstown Lakes District Council. This includes playgrounds, sports courts, fitness equipment, BBQ areas, bus shelters, waterways, and park furniture. Responsibilities encompass general handyman tasks, conducting playground inspections and minor repairs, playground aeration, cleaning, refurbishments, and asset validation. Assistance to the wider Lakes District team may also be required periodically.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of diverse handyman skills with prior maintenance experience preferred.
• Completion of a Playground Inspection and Maintenance Course Level 2 is desirable but not mandatory; the company is open to training the right candidate who is willing to attend a 2-day course.
• Must hold a current full driver’s license with capability to operate a manual vehicle.
• High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety are essential.
• Excellent communication skills, reliability, punctuality, cooperative attitude, and ability to maintain positive workplace relationships.
• Flexibility to work varied hours to meet client needs.
