Job description
Job Overview
The Assessment Specialist is responsible for managing the operational and technical aspects of the Assessment Centre within the Department of Family Medicine at United Arab Emirates University. This includes overseeing assessment and examination technologies, invigilation processes, and quality assurance measures to meet institutional policies and international standards in medical education assessments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain assessment software and examination systems.
- Organize the scheduling and administration of exams for CMHS programs.
- Lead the adoption, testing, and evaluation of innovative digital assessment tools.
- Coordinate examination logistics to ensure smooth assessment operations.
- Train, oversee, and coordinate invigilators ensuring adherence to examination protocols.
- Maintain the security, confidentiality, and integrity of exams.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures related to assessments.
- Generate reports and maintain records for assessments.
- Assist with data analysis and reporting concerning assessment results.
- Provide technical support for assessment systems to faculty and staff.
- Support quality assurance processes and accreditation requirements related to assessments.
- Propose and implement enhancements to assessment procedures and technologies.
- Ensure all assessment activities comply with best practices and international medical education standards.
Collaboration
This role involves working closely with the Medical Education Department's Assessment and Quality Assurance Units, Department Chairs, Faculty Members, IT Services, Administrative Staff, and external examination providers.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Educational Technology, Health Professions Education, or related fields; Master's preferred.
- Expertise in assessment and evaluation in health professions education.
- Experience administering digital assessment systems and ensuring examination security.
- Proficient in data analytics, reporting, and project management.
- Participation in medical education assessment workshops an advantage.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and systems management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple activities under tight deadlines with sound organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Ability to supervise invigilators and coordinate support staff.
- Dedication to continuous quality improvement and quality assurance standards.
