About the Role

Bravada Group Pty Ltd, a pioneering Australian technology and construction firm, is focused on creating advanced AI solutions to enhance productivity and streamline business processes within the construction sector. Their leading AI platform integrates applied statistics, machine learning, large language models, predictive analytics, and software engineering to assist contractors with estimation, project management, document understanding, process automation, and business analytics.

We are hiring a full-time Applied Statistician (Artificial Intelligence) based in Melbourne or Sydney to develop and implement statistical methods that underpin our AI-driven products and commercial software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Craft, devise, and deploy statistical models aiding AI and machine learning applications.
  • Examine both structured and unstructured data sets using appropriate statistical approaches.
  • Create experimental designs, hypothesis evaluations, and validation systems for assessing AI models.
  • Formulate predictive and forecasting models alongside quantitative algorithms to enhance decision-making processes.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature extraction, and inferential statistics on extensive datasets.
  • Assess machine learning and AI model effectiveness using suitable statistical metrics and validation strategies.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to embed statistical models into active AI systems.
  • Investigate and implement emerging statistical approaches related to AI, data science, and predictive analytics.
  • Compile technical documentation, research reports, and statistical advice for company stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate analytical outcomes and quantitative insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Engage in continual AI model enhancement through iterative validation and performance tracking.
  • Participate in research efforts, experimental activities, and publication of findings when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Degree holder (Bachelor's or above) in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a close quantitative field.
  • Advanced qualifications (Master's or PhD) in Statistics, AI, Machine Learning, or related disciplines.
  • Extensive understanding of statistical inference, probability, regression, predictive modeling, and quantitative analysis.
  • Proven experience applying complex statistical methods to diverse datasets.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and familiarity with SQL and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques including supervised and unsupervised learning.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills suitable for multidisciplinary teams and business audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or Generative AI technologies.
  • Familiarity with machine learning libraries/frameworks like Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • Expertise in Bayesian statistics, experimental design, causal inference, or time series analysis.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Background in applying statistical solutions within engineering, construction, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
  • Publication record or research involvement in statistics, AI, or machine learning is an advantage.
