Job description
Role Overview
We seek an Applied Scientist passionate about creating developer tools and services enhanced by generative AI and machine learning, specifically focusing on Large Language Model (LLM)-based solutions tailored for the cloud developer experience. This role involves close collaboration with various AWS teams such as AWS IDE Toolkit, AWS Bedrock, AWS MCPs, and Agent Toolkit, as well as contributing to aws-bench, an open-source agent benchmarking project.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance LLMs, AI agents, and agentic tools for business uses using Python and open-source libraries.
- Create benchmarks to assess AI agent performance on AWS workloads, identify areas for improvement, and develop supporting documentation and tools to optimize agent interactions with AWS.
- Ensure the technical quality of products by driving modeling and design improvements that add value for scientists and engineers.
- Understand challenges developers face in cloud-based solutions and craft generalized solutions.
- Work collaboratively with developers to transition solutions into production and resolve technical obstacles in cross-team initiatives.
- Document and disseminate research internally through documentation, presentations, and external scientific publications.

Qualifications
- PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or related fields.
- Experience creating models for business applications.
- Contributions such as patents or publications in prestigious peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Java, C++, or Python.
- Knowledge in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel/distributed computing, and high-performance computing.
- Expertise in designing deep learning architectures, training, optimization, and model pruning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
- Professional experience in software development.
