Amazon's Translation Services team is searching for an Applied Scientist in Hyderabad to develop algorithmic solutions that translate billions of words annually across more than 130 locales. This role is integral to reducing human intervention while ensuring accurate and efficient translations that enable worldwide customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Leverage expertise in large language models (LLM) to design and implement scalable machine learning approaches for tackling complex language translation issues in e-commerce settings.
• Work collaboratively with software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to specify project needs, define success criteria, and deliver robust solutions.
• Perform comprehensive data analyses to derive insights and patterns that improve seller performance and customer satisfaction across global marketplaces.
• Continuously research and integrate advanced modeling methods to enhance the precision and speed of translation systems.
• Present complex technical information clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, explaining solutions and their potential impact.

Candidate Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience developing models for business applications.
• Advanced degree: PhD or Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years experience in computer science, computer engineering, machine learning, or related fields.
• Contributed to patents or published in respected peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
• Proficient in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
• Familiar with algorithms, data structures, parsing techniques, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, and high-performance computing.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working within Unix/Linux environments.
• Background in professional software development.
