Air Freight Trainee

About the Role

Join DHL Global Forwarding, the air, ocean, and road freight specialist division of DHL Group, a distinguished global leader serving over 220 countries since 1969. Our team pioneers innovative cross-border shipping solutions connecting people worldwide. We currently offer an Air Freight Trainee opportunity based in Entebbe, Uganda, to support airfreight operations and facilitate smooth flow of goods and information in global supply chains.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers under guidance by providing shipment information and handling any complaints or incidents.
• Verify accurate capture of costs and revenues in line with customer profiles, seeking assistance to resolve discrepancies.
• Carry out shipment administrative duties such as processing customer bookings, ensuring documentation compliance for local and international transport.
• Manage shipments following customer service commitments and organizational objectives under supervision.
• Detect, collect and communicate any operational irregularities or exceptions encountered.
• Support efforts to maintain and improve the quality of shipment data.
• Adhere to necessary regulatory compliances concerning shipment commodities and locations.
• Assign shipments to appropriate consol routes ensuring customer satisfaction and profitability, consulting when needed.
• Prepare invoices with the necessary supporting documents ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
• Utilize various tools to monitor performance and flag potential issues promptly.

Stakeholder Interaction

• Collaborate closely with senior team members, global service centers, customers, and suppliers.
• Gain a clear understanding of customer requirements and build strong relationships.
• Develop internal networks to enhance knowledge of products, markets, and organizational processes.
• Handle task-related challenges professionally to maintain positive work relationships.

Management Role

This position is an individual contributor role without supervisory responsibilities.

Eligibility and Education

• Applicants should possess vocational, specialized, technical certifications or similar qualifications.
• Experience level expected is under two years.
