- Formulate and apply AI governance policies reflecting internal risk thresholds, ethical principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate AI-centric threats including model bias, adversarial tactics, data leaks, model inversion, and poisoning attempts.
- Implement secure machine learning lifecycle procedures encompassing data sanitization, model reinforcement, explainability, and ongoing monitoring for performance shifts.
- Work alongside compliance and legal teams to stay abreast of AI-related legislation and standards (e.g., GDPR, Algorithmic Accountability Act).
- Continually update threat models for AI and software, ensuring they remain thorough and risk-aware.
- Review software and AI model architectures to verify adherence to security and governance protocols.
- Prioritize remediation of vulnerabilities found in in-house and third-party AI components.
- Ensure effectiveness and automation of security verification tools and AI auditing mechanisms.
- Oversee AI auditing and monitoring programs to maintain ethical and secure AI utilization after deployment.
- Create AI-focused incident response strategies and lead investigations regarding security breaches or ethical issues involving AI.
- Utilize governance tools and automation platforms such as ModelOps, MLflow, OpenScale, or Credo AI to streamline compliance and audit procedures.
- Develop and deliver training for engineers, data scientists, and testers focused on secure AI and software development practices.
- Promote a culture emphasizing ethical and responsible AI innovation that balances rapid development with security and compliance needs.
- Provide mentorship and guidance on AI governance and secure design best practices across teams.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on emerging AI risks, trends, and regulatory impacts to leadership and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Security, or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience in security architecture with a minimum of 3 years specifically focused on AI/ML system security, governance, or compliance.
- Comprehensive understanding of secure development methodologies, cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and compliance standards like SOC 2, GDPR, and NIST.
- Practical experience managing AI/ML pipelines, including data processing, model deployment, and monitoring.
- Proficiency with security testing tools such as SAST, DAST, SCA, and AI governance solutions.
- Knowledge of AI ethics and techniques to address fairness and bias mitigation.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical AI risks in accessible terms to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Expertise in implementing AI risk management frameworks like NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 23894, or EU AI Act classifications.
- Programming and automation skills, notably in Python, PowerShell, or Java.
- Experience in policy crafting and participation in cross-functional AI governance committees.
- Relevant certifications including CCSP, CISSP, or credentials in Responsible AI and AI Governance.
Core Competencies
- Exceptional leadership and communication capabilities that influence both technical and business teams.
- In-depth knowledge of threat modeling, compliance integration, and risk evaluation.
- Proven discretion and integrity when managing sensitive ethical challenges.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to juggle several projects effectively.
