AI Engineer – Workforce Intelligence Platform

About the Role

We are looking to hire an AI Engineer to become a vital member of a product team focused on creating an AI-driven workforce intelligence platform tailored for sectors such as energy, resources, and infrastructure. The role involves hands-on work designing and deploying production-level AI tools including candidate matching, semantic search, recruitment intelligence systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic workflows.

This role is ideal for a practical engineer who excels at transforming conceptual ideas and prototypes into dependable, scalable applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement candidate matching, ranking, and semantic search solutions.
• Develop applications powered by large language models (LLMs), including RAG and agentic workflow implementations.
• Create AI-assisted tools for search, screening, and recruitment processes.
• Extract, process, and organize CVs, profiles, and other unstructured data formats.
• Build backend services, application programming interfaces (APIs), and data pipelines.
• Integrate AI technologies into comprehensive full-stack software systems.
• Deploy and maintain AI applications in production using cloud platforms.
• Enhance AI system metrics such as reliability, performance, latency, and cost effectiveness.
• Establish evaluation protocols, error handling, and guardrail mechanisms for AI systems.
• Work extensively with both structured and unstructured data to boost intelligence quality and matching precision.

Candidate Profile

• Between 2 and 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, AI engineering, or machine learning engineering roles.
• Proficient in Python programming and backend/API development.
• Demonstrated track record of designing and deploying production-grade AI systems.
• Hands-on familiarity with LLMs, generative AI, RAG frameworks, and agentic applications.
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, embeddings, vector search algorithms, and reranking techniques.
• Comprehensive understanding of LLM evaluation, prompt management, structured output generation, and AI guardrails implementation.
• Competent with cloud infrastructure services, especially Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Knowledgeable in Docker containerization, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), logging, and monitoring tools.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL databases and/or vector database technologies.

Additional Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with AI orchestration tools such as LangGraph, LangChain, or Flowise.
• Front-end development experience using React, Next.js, or TypeScript.
• Understanding of knowledge graphs and entity resolution processes.
• Experience integrating with applicant tracking systems (ATS) or customer relationship management (CRM) software.
• Background in recruitment, HR technology, or marketplace platforms.
• Exposure to industries including energy, mining, or infrastructure.

Job Requirements

• Must live in Australia, ideally located in Perth, Western Australia.
• Capable and willing to work remotely from anywhere within Australia; candidates based in Perth may have the option to work onsite at the Perth CBD office.
• Possession of full Australian work authorization.
• Strong background in commercial software engineering.
• Proven experience in personally developing and deploying production-level AI solutions.
