Senior Backend Engineer - Python and FastAPI (Remote India)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Backend Python Engineer to lead the development of core backend services for a scalable and data-heavy platform. The role supports remote work across India, with a preference for candidates based in Lucknow or Nagpur.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and maintain scalable backend and data processing services.
• Develop reusable and configuration-driven backend systems to enhance efficiency.
• Create and optimize complex SQL queries and develop efficient data models.
• Guarantee accuracy, reliability, auditability, and reproducibility of system processes.
• Work with multi-tenant, multi-cloud, and client-hosted infrastructure environments.
• Lead architectural decisions, conduct code reviews, and provide mentoring to engineering teams.
• Engage collaboratively with Data Science, AI, and Product teams to align backend solutions with business needs.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A minimum of eight years' experience in backend software development.
• Proficient in Python programming, FastAPI framework, and Bash scripting.
• Expertise in relational databases with strong SQL and data modeling capabilities.
• In-depth knowledge of system design principles focusing on scalability and high performance.
• Experience developing configuration-driven and rule-based backend architectures.
• Committed to delivering high-quality code with thorough testing ensuring system reliability.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and data build tool (dbt).
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools, specifically Terraform.
• Background or interest in AI and machine learning technologies.
• Experience or knowledge in finance and accounting domains is a plus.
