AI Engineer – Applied AI & Automation

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled AI Engineer to join a product team focused on creating an AI-driven workforce intelligence platform targeting the energy, resources, and infrastructure industries. This role requires hands-on development of production-ready AI solutions including candidate matching, semantic search, recruitment intelligence, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and autonomous workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Create systems for candidate matching, ranking, and semantic search.
• Develop applications powered by large language models (LLMs), featuring RAG and autonomous agent workflows.
• Implement AI-assisted search, screening, and recruitment processes.
• Process and organize CVs, profiles, and various unstructured datasets.
• Build backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Integrate AI functionalities within full-stack applications.
• Deploy and maintain AI systems in production using cloud platforms.
• Optimize AI solutions focusing on reliability, performance, latency, and cost-efficiency.
• Establish evaluation methods, safeguards, and error-handling mechanisms.
• Work with both structured and unstructured data to enhance intelligence and matching precision.

Candidate Profile

• Possess 2 to 8 years of relevant commercial experience in software, AI, or machine learning engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Python and backend/API development.
• Proven track record deploying production AI systems.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, generative AI, RAG, and agentic workflows.
• Familiarity with RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector search, and re-ranking techniques.
• Comprehension of LLM evaluation, structured outputs, prompt engineering, and system guardrails.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• Knowledge of Docker, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), logging, and monitoring tools.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and vector databases.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with AI orchestration tools such as LangGraph, LangChain, or Flowise.
• Familiarity with frontend technologies like React, Next.js, or TypeScript.
• Understanding of knowledge graphs and entity resolution.
• Integration experience with ATS or CRM systems.
• Background in recruitment technology, HR, or marketplace platforms.
• Exposure to sectors such as energy, mining, or infrastructure.

Requirements

• Residency in Australia, specifically Perth, Western Australia.
• Full legal working rights in Australia.
• Solid commercial experience in software engineering with hands-on AI solution deployment.
