AI & Data Assurance Consultant

About the Role

We are looking for a driven AI & Data Assurance Consultant to join our Audit & Assurance team based in Singapore. As organizations rapidly integrate artificial intelligence and data-centric technologies, there is an increasing demand for robust governance, risk mitigation, and independent assurance services.

In this capacity, you will assist clients in evaluating, crafting, and enhancing their AI and Data Governance, Risk, and Control frameworks to facilitate the secure, accountable, and regulation-compliant adoption of emerging technologies. Your work will span AI and Data Assurance projects, partnering with cross-functional teams and senior experts to provide effective governance frameworks, risk evaluations, control designs, operational implementations, and assurance services.

We encourage candidates with backgrounds in AI Governance or Data Governance, IT Audit, Technology Risk, or related assurance fields who wish to deepen their knowledge in AI Assurance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in assessing, designing, and rolling out AI and Data Governance frameworks, including policies, standards, and operating models.
• Identify and document AI and data-related risks such as data quality, privacy, security, algorithmic bias, fairness, transparency, explainability, and robustness.
• Help develop AI and Data Risk and Control Matrices, risk registers, control repositories, and strategies for mitigating risks.
• Align governance requirements and controls with recognized standards and regulations including ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF, Singapore’s Model AI Governance Framework, and data protection laws.
• Conduct gap analyses and recommend practical improvements with actionable remediation roadmaps.
• Support assurance projects that evaluate governance structures, risk management practices, and the design and effectiveness of controls.
• Develop risk-focused audit and assurance procedures alongside testing methodologies and evidence collection processes.
• Execute control testing throughout the AI and data lifecycle stages: data gathering, model development, deployment, ongoing monitoring, and governance.
• Assess data governance practices such as data quality management, lineage tracking, ownership, access controls, privacy safeguards, and lifecycle processes.
• Document observations, control weaknesses, remediation advice, and prepare formal assurance reports.
• Engage in client workshops, interviews, walkthroughs, and risk assessment activities with various stakeholders.
• Help draft AI and Data Governance policies, procedures, control frameworks, and establish operational models.
• Interpret regulatory and governance requirements into tangible controls and practical implementation advice.
• Collaborate closely with teams in Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, Technology, Cybersecurity, Data, and AI to ensure comprehensive coverage.
• Contribute to client-facing presentations, assessment outputs, proposals, and other deliverables.
• Participate in the development and enhancement of Deloitte’s AI and Data Assurance methodologies, tools, and accelerators.
• Assist in creating AI risk assessment instruments, control libraries, testing protocols, and reporting formats.
• Stay current with advancements in AI governance, data management, emerging tech, and applicable standards and regulations.
• Engage in internal knowledge-sharing sessions, training, and development of new solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Business, Accounting, Risk Management, Law, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience within consulting, assurance, governance, risk management, or technology-related fields.
• Background in one or more areas such as AI Governance, AI Risk, AI Assurance; Data Governance, Data Risk, Data Assurance; IT Audit, Technology Risk, IT General Controls; Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, or Regulatory Compliance.
• Experience contributing to advisory, risk evaluation, audit, or assurance engagements and producing professional deliverables and structured reports.

Technical and Domain Expertise

• Solid understanding of governance, risk management, and internal control concepts.
• Experience with risk assessments, designing controls, conducting gap analyses, and control testing.
• Basic knowledge of AI and machine learning principles, lifecycle phases, and related risks including bias, explainability, data integrity, privacy, and security.
• Awareness of data governance aspects such as data quality, lineage, ownership, security, and access management.
• Exposure to standards and frameworks like ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF, COBIT, ISO 27001, DAMA-DMBOK, or Singapore AI governance guidelines is beneficial.

Preferred (Not Mandatory)

• Relevant certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CDMP, AIGP, ISO/IEC 42001, ISO 27001, or equivalents.
• Direct experience developing AI and Data Governance policies, control frameworks, and operating models.
• Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance platforms such as ServiceNow, Archer, or OneTrust.
• Experience working in regulated sectors like financial services, telecommunications, or the public sector.
• Knowledge of AI assurance processes, model risk management, or responsible AI evaluations.
