Role Summary

As the AI & Data Architect, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire data and systems architecture landscape. This includes establishing canonical data models encompassing entities, relationships, schemas, and semantics, as well as defining standards for data lineage, quality, and freshness across the business. You will ensure a single trusted definition per concept is maintained and adhered to organization-wide.

On the systems front, your duties include managing which systems are the authoritative sources for data, orchestrating connections, and setting integration patterns, event standards, and identity frameworks. You will make strategic decisions on build versus buy options, lead technical assessments of vendor technologies, and highlight trade-offs for executive decisions. Additionally, you will architect the access layers enabling AI agents to interact with the data estate, including managing MCP servers, tool contracts, and guiding development teams to build in alignment with your architecture.

Technical Skills and Experience

• Over 10 years of experience in software or systems engineering with demonstrable full production system design.
• Expertise in dimensional modeling and data warehouse design, preferably with Redshift.
• Proven ability to define data contracts, data lineage, and quality standards that withstand production requirements.
• Experience designing integration architectures and establishing event or API standards for transactional systems.
• Strong proficiency with AWS and practical knowledge of Terraform infrastructure as code.
• Hands-on experience with ETL workflows, data pipelines, PostgreSQL, and at least one production application framework, such as Ruby on Rails.
• Experience integrating Salesforce or similar CRM platforms within a connected system environment.
• Understanding of AI agent data access mechanisms, including MCP servers and tool contract design.
• Background in financial services or other risk-sensitive, regulated industries is advantageous, along with familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and data governance principles.

Work Location and Benefits

This position is located in the Melbourne CBD, offering a hybrid work model with three days in the office (Tuesday to Thursday) and two days working from home (Monday and Friday). The compensation package ranges from $200,000 to $240,000 annually, plus superannuation and bonuses.
