Overview

The AGE Mechanical Supervisor, reporting to the Mechanical Workshop Controller, is a highly skilled and experienced professional responsible for supervising detailed maintenance tasks in the AGE bay. They utilize diagnostic electronic methods to ensure airworthiness through effective task delegation, authorization, and adherence to regulatory and operational standards. The role includes a proactive focus on continuous improvement and comprehensive team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing detailed maintenance, inspections, and supervision of electrical components within the AGE bay, ensuring all tasks comply with authorized work packages and technical guidelines, including fault resolution and configuration management awareness.
  • Conducting maintenance, diagnostic activities such as component removal, inspection, repair, modification, fault correction, replacement, and functional/system testing of electrical parts in the AGE bay, maintaining a flexible and proactive approach.
  • Maintaining personal and team authorizations required for working on aircraft AGE according to regulatory standards and AMC requirements.
  • Verifying team competence and approval for assigned maintenance tasks and managing task authorizations in line with regulatory mandates.
  • Providing electrical support within the AGE bay to uphold compliance with the Maintenance Organization Exposition (MOE) and regulatory procedures, including oversight checks and management of tooling and test equipment.
  • Conducting fault assessments and generating ad hoc work cards for any faults identified during maintenance.
  • Ensuring short to medium-term delivery targets are met through effective supervision and regular progress reporting to management.
  • Maintaining a personal Log Book to record currency and recency through completion of On the Job Training (OJT), endorsing colleagues' log books where appropriate, and undertaking assessor duties if qualified, including license application reviews.
  • Guiding and developing team members via formal assessments like Performance Reviews, supporting training needs including on-the-job training, and demonstrating strong communication and people management skills to convey complex information.
  • Overseeing all maintenance activities related to electrical Aircraft Ground Equipment with timely supervision and ensuring adherence to technical instructions.

Accountabilities

  • Managing regulatory activities effectively by setting performance targets, monitoring progress, and implementing improvement programs; prioritizing work to maximize efficiency and assessing escalated issues for airworthiness impact.
  • Complying with regulatory frameworks, procedures, standards, and company policies, while identifying needed changes.
  • Promoting the Safety Management System by applying human factors, error and risk management, and conducting hazard mitigation within the Part 145 team.
  • Documenting all Part 145 maintenance activities, ensuring airworthiness records are maintained properly, and confirming all work is performed by qualified, experienced, and authorized personnel.
  • Ensuring compliance with governance and assurance frameworks including audit support, responding to findings, and monitoring corrective action effectiveness.
  • Demonstrating understanding and application of statutory, regulatory, and legislative continuing airworthiness requirements and facilitating implementation of related changes.
  • Complying with all contractual requirements relevant to the role.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, preferably Aeronautical Engineering or a military equivalent, with minimum academic qualifications of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or an equivalent certification.
  • At least 2 years experience in a supervisory capacity before assuming this role.
  • Proven competent and experienced leader with demonstrated breadth of knowledge, current skills, and relevant authorizations.
  • Strong practical expertise in aviation safety standards and safe operational practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of organizational Expositions, mandated procedures, and management training.
  • Completed foundational leadership training, Human Factors standard course, Electrical & Power Wiring (E&PW) awareness, ITAR awareness, and fire training awareness.
  • Proficient in IT applications relevant to the role.
  • Experienced in On the Job Training instructional techniques.
  • Valid driving license.
