Advanced Process Control Specialist

Overview

The Advanced Process Control Specialist is responsible for supporting company operations by continuously monitoring, analyzing, and enhancing Advanced Process Control (APC) schemes to maximize operational efficiency and maintain asset integrity.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing performance evaluations of APC systems, comparing results to internal benchmarks and industry standards to ensure continuous optimization.
• Identify frequent issues and limitations with APC implementations and recommend initiatives to implement sustainable solutions and unlock optimization opportunities.
• Lead and participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes related to advanced process control and support control aspects during various plant and process modifications.
• Utilize agreed-upon technical and economic KPIs to monitor mid-to-long-term process performance and assess the impact of process control on operational outcomes.
• Advise operations teams on long-term APC strategies for specific units or subsystems to maintain optimal functionality.
• Engage in both internal and external APC and process control studies to align company practices with industry-leading standards.
• Ensure the ethylene unit and associated units' APC systems are optimized with high availability and reliability.
• Contribute to and take leadership roles within the company's digital transformation initiatives.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements in systems, processes, and practices to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
• Adhere to all relevant policies, processes, procedures, and instructions to maintain consistent and controlled workflows.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and organizational requirements related to quality, health, security, safety, and the environment within the department.
• Assist in preparing timely and accurate departmental reports following established requirements and standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Control Engineering is essential.
• At least 5 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, including a minimum of 3 years as an Analyst specializing in Advanced Process Control.
• Hands-on experience with ethylene and polyethylene manufacturing processes is required.
• Experience in the petrochemical industry is preferred but not mandatory.
