Job description
Position Overview
The Accounts Payable Clerk ensures the verification of financial entries for accuracy in figures, postings, and coding. This role involves organizing and safeguarding all financial records, cash, and equivalents, adhering strictly to company policies. Key responsibilities include inputting, accessing, and analyzing computerized financial data, maintaining journals and ledgers, completing period-end reports, and performing audits of cashier banks as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Key Responsibilities
- Verify figures and documents for mathematical accuracy and ensure proper coding.
- Maintain and secure financial files and cash assets in compliance with procedures.
- Record and analyze financial information using journal and ledger systems.
- Execute period-end closing tasks and generate required financial reports.
- Periodically audit cashier banks following SOP guidelines.
- Manage and document petty cash, cashier banks, and contracts efficiently.
- Identify, record, and communicate cash variances, responding appropriately as per SOPs.
- Serve as a liaison between the property and banking or armored car services.
- Participate in internal, external, and regulatory audits ensuring SOP compliance.
- Adhere to company policies, maintain professional appearance, confidentiality, and protect both company and guest assets.
- Communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing; support team goals and address coworkers’ concerns effectively.
- Physically move light objects up to 10 pounds when necessary.
- Carry out additional duties as directed by Supervisors.
Qualifications
- Minimum education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- At least one year of relevant work experience in a related financial or accounting role.
- No supervisory experience required.
- Licenses or certifications are not necessary.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, non-management contract position based in Accra, Ghana, specifically at Liberation Road Airport City. Remote work is not available for this role.
