About Fairmont Mara Safari Club
Fairmont Mara Safari Club is an upscale tented lodge nestled within a private, secure garden in the heart of the renowned Mara Savannah. It offers luxurious tents overlooking the hippo and crocodile-inhabited Mara River, complemented by an outdoor pool, unique culinary experiences, and exceptional game drives. Located in a private conservancy sheltering the last two Southern white rhinos of Mara, the lodge enables guests to observe the big-five animals up close and participate in diverse safari adventures including night drives, balloon safaris, nature walks, and bike safaris.
Job Overview
This role, reporting to the Unit Accountant, involves verifying the accuracy of credit card transactions, supporting cost control efforts, and ensuring financial records comply with company standards. The Accounts Assistant plays a pivotal part in enhancing the hotel's fiscal health by performing timely reconciliations, overseeing operational expenses, assisting in inventory management, and upholding the establishment's premium hospitality standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform daily reconciliation of credit card transactions between the Property Management System (PMS), payment gateways, and bank statements.
- Track outstanding credit card receivables and resolve any unreconciled discrepancies promptly.
- Assist in monitoring departmental spending to adhere to budget limits.
- Conduct regular inventory checks for food, beverages, housekeeping supplies, and other operational items.
- Support month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate accounting records alongside related documentation.
Candidate Qualifications
- Possess a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related disciplines.
- Professional certifications such as CPA Part II/III, ACCA, or equivalents are advantageous.
- Have 2 to 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or hotel settings.
- Familiarity with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS), accounting software, and Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Understanding of hotel-specific cost control and financial reporting procedures.
Additional Information
- The position requires frequent standing and walking during shifts.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 25 pounds.
- Tasks may involve frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, and sitting.
- The role demands the ability to work independently.
