Job description
Overview
This role involves carrying out specialized accounting tasks to support the financial operations of the organization. The incumbent will be responsible for verifying and recording financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing comprehensive financial reports, and ensuring adherence to established financial policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and oversee accounting records in line with approved accounting standards and company policies.
- Document and post financial entries into journals and ledgers accurately.
- Prepare necessary accounting adjustments, carry out reconciliations, and generate periodic financial reports.
- Produce and evaluate monthly trial balances along with other financial statements.
- Examine payment requests ensuring they comply with financial policies and procedural guidelines.
- Prepare documentation such as checks and payment forms for authorization and processing.
- Audit, validate, and enter accounting documents and transactions within the accounting system.
- Ensure proper maintenance and archiving of financial documents following approved filing protocols.
- Conduct account reconciliations related to bank accounts, advances, petty cash, investments, and fixed assets.
- Monitor balances for accounts receivable, accounts payable, staff advances, and other financial accounts.
- Follow up on investment accounts to verify accurate recording of income and expenses.
- Oversee bank account activities including transfers, deposits, and withdrawals along with related entries.
- Review and log employee salaries, allowances, benefits, and related financial transactions.
- Supervise revenue collection processes including cash, check, credit card, and electronic payments.
- Generate monthly reports detailing outstanding advances and current financial balances.
- Develop checklists to streamline financial review and auditing activities.
- Assist with internal and external audits by supplying necessary financial reports and documents.
- Analyze accounting outcomes, identify discrepancies, and suggest opportunities for process enhancements.
- Carry out additional accounting responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' professional experience in accounting or related financial roles.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- Possession of professional accounting credentials such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, standards, and procedural policies.
- Experienced in the use of accounting software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong command of both Arabic and English languages for verbal and written communication.
