Role Overview

The 24x7 Data Centre Facilities Engineer is accountable for the operational management of facilities across Datacom's data centre network in New Zealand and Australia. Collaborating with the Operations Enablement Team, 24x7 Operations Managers, and Site Facility Managers, you will oversee facility-related incidents, maintenance schedules, and resource coordination to uphold safety and reliability within critical infrastructure.

This full-time role is stationed onsite at the Orbit Data Centre in Auckland. It features a 12-hour rotating shift system covering both daytime and nighttime duties to support continuous 24x7 operations. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not permissible for this position.

Note: The position is exclusively available to New Zealand Citizens and Permanent Residents; sponsorship for visas or consideration for work permit holders will not be offered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain uninterrupted operation of data centre environments as a primary goal.
  • Provide operational support and oversee critical mechanical, electrical, fire and security systems, building infrastructure, monitoring controls, and data centre communications cabling.
  • Utilize infrastructure management tools to monitor alerts and warnings.
  • Manage facility-related incidents following protocols and established escalation processes.
  • Serve as the initial escalation contact during your shifts.
  • Ensure completion and documentation of all facility-related activities in operational systems.
  • Provide onsite support and coordination during major incident events, including documentation accuracy and participation in incident drills.
  • Develop incident reports and promote consistency in procedures and service standards across all data centres.
  • Oversee maintenance contractors to confirm adherence to service agreements.
  • Engage in continuous training on data centre operations, risk management, and emergency response.
  • Maintain precise records and system data related to Data Centre ACMS.
