Internship Overview
This internship offers Mechanical Engineering students a chance to immerse themselves in the comprehensive product development process—from design to manufacturing—for smart IoT and construction technology hardware. This role emphasizes practical involvement beyond CAD modeling; it includes material selection, vendor sourcing, prototyping, and validating design concepts hands-on.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and model mechanical components using SolidWorks and Autodesk Fusion 360.
- Rapidly iterate multiple design solutions to address complex mechanical challenges.
- Assess materials based on performance, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with vendors for prototyping and fabrication, including local site visits.
- Construct and evaluate in-house prototypes, performing concept validation and iterative improvements.
- Work with the engineering team to diagnose and resolve mechanical design issues.
- Assist in testing and validating the quality and durability of final products.
- Document design workflows, material specifications, and vendor analyses for ongoing use.
- Engage in design reviews and brainstorming sessions, contributing innovative ideas.
- Stay informed about current trends in materials, manufacturing techniques, and IoT hardware advancements.
Candidate Profile
- Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficient with SolidWorks or Autodesk Fusion 360 for hardware design modeling.
- Ability to swiftly explore various design options rather than focusing on a single concept.
- Hands-on approach and comfort in working directly with physical prototypes.
- Willingness to travel locally to interact with vendors and supervise prototype production.
- Possesses a strong sense of ownership, contributing to product-level decisions beyond routine tasks.
