Retail Store Cashier

About the Role

We are seeking a dependable Retail Store Cashier to join our team in Bengaluru, Karnataka. As the primary contact at the checkout, you will play a vital role in ensuring a seamless and pleasant payment experience for our customers while supporting store operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Warmly welcome customers as they approach the checkout counter.
• Efficiently scan items, verify pricing, apply relevant discounts or promotions, and process payments through cash, card, or mobile methods.
• Accurately operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to issue receipts and manage change.
• Manage returns, exchanges, and refunds following company guidelines.
• Balance the cash drawer at shift end, resolve discrepancies, and report any issues to management.
• Maintain a tidy, organized, and presentable checkout area.
• Assist customers with inquiries or direct them to appropriate personnel for further help.
• Inform customers about ongoing store promotions, loyalty programs, and special offers.
• Support the store team by restocking merchandise, bagging items, and assisting during busy periods when queues are long.
• Strictly adhere to store policies related to loss prevention, security, and cash handling procedures.
• Report equipment malfunctions, technical difficulties, or customer complaints promptly to the store manager.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum education level: Completion of 12th grade or equivalent.
• Previous cashier experience in retail or fast-paced environments is an advantage.
• Comfortable with basic arithmetic operations and managing monetary transactions including giving change and operating POS systems.
• Strong customer service orientation; friendly, approachable, and patient manner.
• Effective verbal communication and ability to collaborate with team members.
• Meticulous attention to detail with integrity in handling cash and transactions.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform moderate physical tasks such as bagging and restocking.
• Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy in managing confidential financial information.
• Proficiency in English or Kannada languages.
