Role Overview
We seek an experienced Apparel Merchandiser with a strong technical background in the garment industry. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of garment construction, costing, production workflows, and market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage at least five years of experience in the apparel or garment sector.
- Possess in-depth technical expertise in garment construction, fabrics, trims, and manufacturing methodologies.
- Understand and apply garment costing principles, factoring in fabric consumption, trims, stitching (CMT), finishing, embroidery, printing, and additional value enhancements.
- Evaluate and validate cost sheets to uncover opportunities for cost optimization.
- Work with Bill of Materials (BOM), fabric consumption, Standard Allowed Minutes (SAM)/Standard Minute Value (SMV), operation breakdown, and manufacturing processes to streamline production.
- Analyze garments and styles to comprehend their structural complexity, manufacturing intricacies, and cost considerations.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of various fabric types, compositions, GSM, and fabric construction techniques impacting garment cost.
- Analyze market pricing strategies and competitor offerings.
- Conduct thorough market intelligence and competitor benchmarking with respect to product features, fabrics, construction methods, pricing, and value propositions.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the apparel/garment industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Technology, Garment Technology, Apparel Production, Textile, or related technical disciplines.
- Preference for candidates with B.F.Tech (Apparel Production) from NIFT or equivalent garment technology degrees from reputable institutes.
