Role Overview

This role involves contributing to "North," Cohere's innovative AI workspace platform designed to transform how enterprises implement AI securely while retaining control over sensitive information. North offers integration with existing enterprise workflows and connects AI agents with workplace tools and applications to automate and augment business processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement features for the North AI workspace platform.
• Develop autonomous AI-driven agents interfacing with confidential enterprise data.
• Create optimized code suitable for low-resource environments with strict deployment requirements.
• Innovate custom solutions in security and privacy where standard tools cannot be used.
• Collaborate with research teams to transition advanced AI models and techniques into production environments.

Candidate Profile

• At least two years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Strong background in full-stack development using Python and React, with multiple production deployments.
• Thrives in fast-paced environments and adapts effectively to evolving priorities.
• Experience working in both startups and large enterprise organizations.
• Proficient coding skills with the ability to troubleshoot and improve codebases outside primary responsibilities.
• Proven track record of building and deploying highly efficient client-side or server-side retrieval augmented generation (RAG)/agentic applications at scale.
• Appreciation for artistic design and creativity is a plus, with optional portfolio or project showcases.

Technical Stack

The technology stack includes Python, TypeScript with React, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes. Emphasis is placed on fundamental software skills, product judgment, initiative, and adaptability rather than experience in every stack component.
