About the Team

The Growth Squad is responsible for attracting and engaging users in the World App, managing features including user incentives like invites and rewards, lifecycle tools such as onboarding and notification centers, and growth channels like Find an Orb. This team works closely across product, engineering, and economic functions and focuses on scaling user adoption and retention. The Munich-based group primarily handles user incentives and collaborates with colleagues globally.

Role Overview

This role seeks an experienced Android engineer to lead development for all growth-related features in the World App, mainly focusing on user incentives while also supporting onboarding and other growth initiatives. The engineer will own feature development end-to-end, ship quickly, measure results rigorously, and iterate based on data. Collaboration with product, backend, design, economics, and data teams is essential to deliver impactful features that drive acquisition and retention.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of Android growth features centered on incentives, onboarding, notifications, and modalities.
• Rapidly develop and release features and experiments in close partnership with cross-functional teams.
• Implement comprehensive analytics instrumentation to track funnels and measure performance of growth flows.
• Work with economics, data, and operations teams to fully understand growth metrics and feature impact.
• Enhance the Android codebase architecture for faster experimentation with feature flags, modular design, and testability.
• Quickly diagnose and fix issues affecting growth performance, prioritizing reliability.
• Address Android-specific obstacles including device fragmentation, OS version compatibility, and broad hardware performance.

Candidate Profile

• Proven expertise in Android development using Kotlin, with a history of shipping production user-facing features.
• A mindset geared toward growth engineering focusing on metrics, funnels, and iterative experimentation.
• Strong experience managing features from initial requirement gathering through release and continuous monitoring.
• Effective communicator comfortable working with non-technical teams such as product, design, data, and economics.
• Knowledge of Android analytics instrumentation, A/B testing frameworks, and feature flag implementations.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to proactively drive work forward.
