About the Role
We are seeking a Railway Engineering Manager based in the United Arab Emirates to join our team remotely on a full-time basis. This role involves leading engineering strategies and delivering technical oversight across various aspects of railway infrastructure and systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with safety and commercial goals.
- Establish engineering standards, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Create short- and long-term engineering plans focused on optimizing asset reliability and cost-efficiency.
- Lead technical management including design reviews, resolving engineering issues, and coordinating multi-disciplinary activities.
- Manage railway systems integration across track, signalling, electrification, rolling stock, and other subsystems.
- Oversee track engineering requirements such as geometry, rail components, and maintenance support.
- Monitor and enhance key engineering KPIs such as asset availability, failure rates, maintenance backlogs, and compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement programs targeting reliability, maintainability, and adoption of innovative technologies.
- Maintain engineering knowledge repositories and facilitate knowledge sharing within teams.
- Manage relationships with stakeholders including regulators, operators, contractors, and technology partners.
- Provide executive reporting on engineering performance, risks, and improvement initiatives.
- Lead and develop engineering teams, setting objectives and fostering technical excellence.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary railway engineering functions or teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of railway infrastructure, systems engineering, and asset management.
- Strong skills in coordinating track, signalling, electrification, telecommunications, rolling stock, and station engineering disciplines.
- Hands-on experience with engineering design, construction, testing, commissioning, and operational handover.
- Expertise in RAMS principles, reliability engineering, and lifecycle asset planning.
- Strong technical risk management and engineering assurance capabilities.
- Experience managing external consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Familiarity with UAE railway standards and international engineering norms is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of digital engineering tools, predictive maintenance, and asset analytics is a plus.
- Excellent leadership, planning, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote, globally distributed team.
- Relevant degree in engineering disciplines related to railways (e.g., Railway, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Transportation Engineering).
- Professional engineering registration or recognized certification advantageous.
- Proficient English communication skills; Arabic proficiency beneficial.
