Job description
Position Overview
This role involves piloting and instructing on the MH-60R helicopter, performing both Instructor Pilot (IP) duties and Functional Check Flights (FCF) to ensure aircraft readiness after maintenance or modification. The position also involves providing pilot training to maintain proficiency and assisting maintenance teams during in-flight troubleshooting and verification procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Pilot and navigate MH-60R helicopter flights.
- Deliver pilot training as an Instructor Pilot to sustain operational proficiency.
- Support RSNF-designated FCF pilots with all aspects of maintenance functional check flights including briefing, preflight inspections, flight checks, post-flight evaluations, and complete required flight documentation.
- Collaborate with maintenance contractors to address discrepancies through ground and in-flight troubleshooting and verify maintenance actions.
- Assist in overseeing a compliant MH-60R Flight Operations Program in alignment with Navy manuals, directives, standard operating procedures, and local regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Helicopter Aircraft Commander (HAC) designation.
- Demonstrated experience as an MH-60R Instructor Pilot.
- Previous designation as an MH-60R Instructor and Functional Check Flight Pilot.
- Ability to operate independently, with a minimum of 550 total flight hours, including 50 HAC hours and 100 hours on MH-60R FCF or maintenance test flights.
Security and Physical Requirements
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain Department of the Navy Secret Clearance; US citizenship required.
- Facility credentials and authorization must be maintained.
- Subject to post-offer, pre-employment drug screening in compliance with a drug-free workplace policy.
- Must successfully pass an aeronautical/flight physical examination.
- Physical demands include ability to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, and crouch as necessary.
