Job description

About Kwetta

Kwetta is a New Zealand-based scale-up tackling the complex challenge of electrification by enabling millions of heavy vehicles to charge efficiently without stressing power grids. The company develops an advanced portal that monitors and manages electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across multiple sites and regions in New Zealand, with expansion plans into Australia and Europe.

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer at Kwetta, you will be instrumental in developing and evolving the Kwetta Portal, the core platform that provides charge point operators with critical visibility and control over EV charging installations. Joining as the second dedicated developer, you will collaborate closely with colleagues to enhance, secure, and scale this platform, contributing across the entire software lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain components such as dashboards, integrations, and security features within the Kwetta Portal.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Product, R&D, Service, and Delivery to translate customer needs into practical software solutions.
  • Participate in scaling and optimizing the platform’s infrastructure to support growth across diverse geographical markets.
  • Influence architectural decisions and engineering best practices to guide the future development trajectory of the platform.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in software development, including roles with senior-level responsibilities.
  • Proficient in TypeScript and experienced with modern full-stack web frameworks such as SvelteKit, React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt, or Angular.
  • Experience developing, deploying, and managing cloud-native applications, preferably involving serverless architectures and continuous integration/deployment workflows.
  • Strong understanding of working with APIs, real-time data processing, and various database technologies including relational, NoSQL, and time-series databases.
  • Good UI/UX sensibility and effective communication skills necessary for teamwork in a small, collaborative environment.

Benefits and Perks

  • Engage in mission-driven work that supports the global shift toward electrification through impactful software.
  • Take genuine ownership of your work and receive employee share options representing a stake in the company’s success.
  • Join a supportive, ego-free, and cooperative team focused on continual learning and problem-solving.
  • Access to professional growth opportunities with trust and support to excel in your role.
  • Southern Cross Wellbeing One Health Insurance coverage for you and your immediate family members.
  • Enjoy a high quality of life in Napier, Hawke’s Bay, with a short commute and support for relocation costs up to NZD 4,000, plus assistance with housing, schooling, childcare, and settling in.

Additional Details

The annual salary range for this position is between NZD 140,000 to NZD 170,000, depending on experience, along with employee share options and health insurance benefits.
