Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Meter Reader to join Veolia on a 12-month fixed term contract, based primarily on the road in the Cavan/Monaghan region. You will collect water consumption data as part of manual and automated metering projects and occasionally support other related projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive assigned routes to collect meter readings, including manual, walk-by, and drive-by methods.
- Use an Android tablet for route navigation, regularly reviewing and optimizing daily routes.
- Read water meters and input readings into handheld devices.
- Enter a "skip" code from a predefined list when a meter read cannot be completed.
- Document any onsite issues with photographic evidence.
- Upload collected data regularly for project monitoring.
- Report anomalies like meter irregularities or access issues via handheld devices.
- Inform the Veolia Project Manager and Meter Data Management Service Provider (MDMSP) of any equipment or maintenance problems.
- Direct customers with billing concerns to the Uisce Eireann Customer Service Centre.
- Update GPS data to enhance the metering network continuously.
- Manually read meters for non-domestic metering projects awaiting AMR activation.
- Adhere to health, safety, and performance protocols, using the Ava platform for reporting incidents or near misses.
- Use provided tools to access meters, including opening boundary boxes and pumping out chambers.
- Bulk meters require two-person teams with safety lifting keys for readings.
- Meet or exceed daily and quarterly reading targets and client KPIs consistently.
- Foster continuous improvement by identifying and reporting inefficiencies collaboratively.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Possession of a Full Clean Driver's Licence; commercial driving experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Water Network Management or basic plumbing skills.
- Proficiency with IT systems, tablets, handheld devices, and GPS equipment; training provided.
- Strong organizational skills including effective route planning and time management.
- Understanding of safety requirements related to meter reading operations.
- Excellent communication skills with a positive and team-oriented mindset.
