Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Java Backend Engineer with 5 to 8 years of professional experience to join our engineering team in Bengaluru. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-native backend applications, primarily utilizing Java, microservices, Microsoft Azure, and Kubernetes technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain cloud-native backend services using Java 11+ and microservices architecture.
• Translate business and technical requirements into effective backend solutions including REST APIs and distributed services.
• Develop and deploy containerized applications leveraging Docker and Kubernetes within Microsoft Azure environments.
• Engage in technical design and architecture discussions, ensuring high standards of performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
• Ensure code quality through unit and integration testing (JUnit), Test-Driven Development practices, and rigorous code reviews.
• Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
• Take full ownership of backend applications through the software development lifecycle including production troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Implement operational best practices including logging, monitoring, and alerting.
• Identify and remediate technical debt to improve system robustness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as product managers, architects, QA, DevOps, and security specialists within Agile/Scrum/SAFe frameworks.
• Mentor junior engineers by sharing knowledge and providing technical guidance.
• Continuously stay updated with emerging technologies to drive improvements.

Technical Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of professional software development experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Java 11 or above.
• Proficiency in backend API development, especially RESTful services.
• Strong grasp of microservices design and distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of Java core concepts, including OOP, collections, exception handling, concurrency, and design principles.
• Experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot is a plus.
• Familiarity with build tools such as Maven or equivalents.
• Practical experience developing and operating cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
• Proficiency with Azure services, especially Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Solid knowledge of Kubernetes fundamentals and hands-on experience managing containerized applications.
