Job description

Role Overview

We seek a mid-level DevOps Engineer to develop, maintain, and scale the infrastructure supporting our game development workflows. Collaborating closely with programmers, technical artists, and QA teams, you will ensure build pipelines are efficient, dependable, and user-friendly, allowing creative teams to focus on game development without tool-related obstacles.

Core Responsibilities

  • Create and sustain CI/CD pipelines for game builds across diverse platforms including PC, consoles, and mobile devices.
  • Oversee and enhance build farms, automated build frameworks, and continuous integration processes including nightly builds.
  • Manage version control systems like Perforce and Git/Git LFS, handling branching strategies, repository health, and performance optimizations.
  • Automate build packaging, deployment, and distribution to digital storefronts such as Steam, console certification tools, app stores, as well as internal QA builds.
  • Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot failures, and strive to reduce build and iteration durations.
  • Support and advance automated testing systems including smoke tests, regression suites, and integrate crash reporting mechanisms.
  • Administer both cloud and on-premise infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker) that supports build servers, backend services, and live operations tooling.
  • Develop and update internal automation scripts and tooling using languages like Python, Bash, and PowerShell to optimize developer workflows.
  • Work with engineering leads to assess and plan infrastructure requirements for upcoming projects and platforms.
  • Lead incident response for pipeline disruptions, performing root cause analysis and producing postmortems.
  • Document workflows and provide training and support to development and technical staff utilizing the build pipeline.
  • Coordinate with engine teams and technical leads to communicate necessary features and share best practices.
  • Integrate Unreal Engine features into studio games seamlessly, offering technical solutions and problem-solving support.
  • Offer flexible assistance during critical development phases to help the team achieve project deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • Two to three years of experience in DevOps, build engineering, or infrastructure roles, preferably within the gaming industry.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming with languages such as Python, C#, or Bash.
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, TeamCity, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
  • Strong familiarity with scalable version control systems, particularly Perforce and Git including Git LFS.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines, including with programmers, artists, and producers.
  • Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and a tendency to automate repetitive tasks wherever possible.

Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to Unreal Engine.
  • Understanding of game engine build processes (Unity, Unreal, or proprietary engines).
  • Experience with console certification and submission pipelines (PlayStation, Xbox, Switch).
  • Familiarity with live-operations backend services and telemetry systems.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible.
  • Experience scaling build infrastructure in live-service or multi-title studio environments.

Benefits and Growth Opportunities

  • Receive mentorship from seasoned engine programmers.
  • Gain exposure to AAA-level game development projects.
  • Work with production-quality codebases and contribute to released game titles.
  • Build industry connections within the gaming community.

  • Subsidized parking facilities.
  • Continuous learning and professional development support.
  • Generous employee referral incentives.
