Job description

Role Overview

We are partnering with a manufacturing client based in Cork to recruit a Calibration Technician focused on instrumentation. This position involves overseeing the setup, installation, and support of automated equipment, ensuring peak operation and meeting testing objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain comprehensive calibration documentation including data logs, equipment history, and maintenance records.
  • Execute calibration and repair tasks on electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic test instrumentation following established protocols.
  • Administer calibration standards and upkeep reference apparatus.
  • Diagnose and fix equipment issues, performing repairs or necessary adjustments.
  • Adhere to standards such as ISO 13485 and FDA regulations (21 CFR Part 820) in all calibration processes.
  • Create and revise calibration procedures and instructions as needed to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Organize calibration schedules with internal teams to reduce downtime.
  • Assist with acquisition and validation of new testing instruments.
  • Participate in audits related to calibration practices, both internal and external.
  • Offer technical guidance and training to colleagues on calibration tasks and equipment usage.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness in the workspace.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Possession of an engineering degree or technical certification in electronics, instrumentation, or a related technical field.
  • Prior experience working as a Calibration Technician, ideally in the medical device sector or another regulated environment.
  • In-depth familiarity with calibration methodologies, principles, and applicable standards.
  • Competency in using calibration software and instruments.
  • Understanding of ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and related compliance frameworks.
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving expertise.
  • High attention to detail and precision in work execution.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics with confidence.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
