Role Overview
The Safety Officer role is a full-time position based on-site at the Arjas Steel plant. The incumbent will be responsible for upholding health, safety, and security standards in compliance with legal regulations and internal policies. Key duties include conducting regular safety inspections, spotting hazards, suggesting corrective measures, and maintaining detailed safety records.
Additional responsibilities encompass investigating workplace incidents and near misses, compiling comprehensive incident reports, and working closely with relevant departments to implement preventive strategies. The officer will design and conduct safety training programs, assist with emergency preparedness exercises, collaborate with operational and maintenance divisions to enforce safe working procedures, and foster an organizational culture centered on safety and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of Health & Safety and Occupational Health standards pertinent to industrial and steel plant environments.
- Must be a ratified Safety Officer registered in Andhra Pradesh.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in conducting accident investigations, incident reporting, and performing root cause analyses.
- Experienced in developing and delivering safety training to varied teams.
- Acquainted with security protocols including access control, safeguarding assets, and coordinating emergency responses.
- Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or an industrial safety diploma; a degree or diploma in engineering, occupational health, or related disciplines is advantageous.
- Strong capability to interpret safety regulations and standards, keen observational skills, and ability to maintain accurate documentation and reports.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the aptitude to influence safety-minded behavior and collaborate across departments.
- Background in heavy industry, manufacturing, or steel plant settings is preferred.
