Java Technical Lead

Position Overview

We are looking for a bilingual Java Technical Lead with the flexibility to work in either Montreal or Toronto. This role requires a creative and innovative professional eager to join a dynamic Agile development team undergoing transformation.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate client requirements into robust solution architecture and technical design.
• Collaborate within a software engineering team utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka, NoSQL databases, Docker, OpenShift, and Kubernetes.
• Champion a DevOps and CI/CD culture, promoting continuous integration, delivery, monitoring, and automation to enhance efficiency, encourage innovation, and deliver superior value, integrating AI benefits where applicable.
• Evaluate and propose emerging technologies and relevant use cases.
• Provide technical leadership across diverse tools, architectures, and technologies.
• Guide development teams with technical insight and mentorship throughout the application development lifecycle.
• Work closely with Agile teams to deeply understand business needs and client requirements, ensuring architectural and security standards align with organizational policies.
• Contribute to business development by responding to RFPs and RFAs, performing impact assessments for change requests, offering technical solutions, and assisting with cost estimation.
• Assist in preparing Statements of Work and proposals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering, focused on Java application architecture and development.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, Spring Boot, JEE/Java, Avro, OpenShift, XML, JSON, UML, Maven, Jenkins, Swagger, Microservices, Kafka, NoSQL, GraphDB, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Demonstrated strong commitment to innovation and adaptability in the face of uncertainty or evolving business needs.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral.
• Proven leadership abilities to drive technology initiatives effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven ability to resolve conflicts and balance competing priorities successfully.
• Experience thriving in fast-paced team environments.
• Quick learner adaptable to change.
• Industry background in telecommunications is advantageous.

Additional Information

• Fluency in both English and French is required due to the role’s interaction with national and global clients.
• The salary range is estimated between $90,000 and $140,000 CAD, depending on skill level, geography, experience, education, licenses, and certifications.
• This is a current opening for an existing position.
