Role Summary
The Engineering Manager will lead the CI/CD infrastructure platform as an internal product, focusing on delivering a 'Golden Path' enabling over 150 engineers across 20 teams to achieve top-tier velocity and quality at scale. The role encompasses overseeing a remote team of four infrastructure engineers to advance a zero-toil, AI-driven platform capable of scaling for a significant increase in testing and engineering throughput.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and continually improve the infrastructure platform to meet evolving needs.
- Champion an AI-driven approach to dramatically reduce manual tasks, aiming for zero-touch scalable infrastructure with AI managing dependency handling, incident resolution, cloud cost optimization, and developer support.
- Plan and execute strategies for scaling CI/CD and artifact distribution systems to support a substantial quality surge without increasing engineer toil.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-impact infrastructure engineering team in an asynchronous, remote environment, promoting empathy, autonomy, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable ability or willingness to use the Camunda platform.
- Proven leadership experience with developmental coaching of engineers to senior and advanced levels.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, translating technical requirements into actionable roadmaps and strategies.
- Senior technical expertise in cloud platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS), Kubernetes (any distribution), Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, ArgoCD), and scaling high-load CI/CD systems (e.g. GitHub Actions with self-hosted runners).
- Backend development experience with proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python.
- Capability to assess complex system architectures and code, with eagerness to contribute hands-on as necessary (e.g. internal workflow automation).
- Experience ensuring team efficiency in fully remote, asynchronous working models.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading teams toward automation-first or AI-native cultures.
- Background in technical product management or a strong product mindset.
- Knowledge of implementing financial operations (FinOps) practices for accountability.
