Customer Delivery Driver - Irlam Extra

About the Role

As a Customer Delivery Driver for Tesco in Irlam, you will represent Tesco on the road, bringing groceries directly to customers' homes with friendly and reliable service. This position involves much more than just driving—it requires a hands-on approach, physical activity, and variety, with each shift offering new experiences. Although you'll spend much of your day working independently, support is always available from managers and teammates back at the store.

Your starting pay is £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 for positions within M25 stores, with the possibility of additional location-specific payments. Tesco guarantees a minimum of 16 hours work per week, although shifts as short as 12 hours may be offered.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of your van, delivery trays, and work area to ensure every order arrives in excellent condition.
• Load the delivery van safely, and carry out thorough checks to confirm the vehicle is in proper working order and ready for daily routes.
• Communicate effectively with customers about any order changes, substitutions, or approaching expiry dates, handling refunds when necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Carefully handle all products during transit and delivery to preserve quality and build customer trust.
• Ensure deliveries are made within the designated time slots, providing a personable and warm service at the customers’ doorsteps to leave a positive impression.

Candidate Requirements

• Develop strong, positive relationships with colleagues to foster an excellent team environment focused on superior customer service.
• Exude warmth and a welcoming attitude towards customers and coworkers alike.
• Adapt quickly to changing customer needs and embrace flexibility both on the road and within the store environment.
• Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (manual or automatic) for at least 12 months without accumulating more than three penalty points.
