Role Overview

Under supervision of the Head of Unit and the Senior Protection Associate, the Caseworker - Protection will contribute to programs assisting Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTP) in Ireland, focusing on state accommodation settings nationwide where individuals face barriers to independence. This involves tailored protection-related casework such as vulnerability assessments, identifying needs, and coordinating appropriate support services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementing and tracking project activities to ensure effective delivery.
  • Collect, analyze, summarize, and present data and information relevant to project objectives.
  • Support development and execution of the programme’s protection strategy through research and supplementary assistance.
  • Conduct thorough vulnerability screenings of BOTP individuals preceding detailed case management.
  • Follow Programme Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in delivering support to BOTP in state accommodations.
  • Coordinate with designated contacts at State Accommodation Centres and maintain collaboration with various organizational and external entities to manage administrative processes.
  • Communicate essential and accurate information to BOTP, refer vulnerable cases for support, and provide translation or interpretation where needed.
  • Prepare status reports, identify challenges, propose corrective measures, and draft correspondence and documentation including reports, briefings, tables, and presentations.
  • Respond to complex queries, organize files, and facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and collaborate with governmental authorities, partners, UN agencies, NGOs, donors, and stakeholders associated with the programme.
  • Monitor the work of Implementing Partners, report non-compliance to supervisors, and perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law with a minimum of three years relevant professional experience; or
  • High School diploma with at least five years of related professional experience.

Experience and skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  • Experience working directly with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, or other vulnerable populations.
  • Prior exposure to international humanitarian organizations or government/non-governmental institutions in multicultural environments is advantageous.
  • Strong case management capabilities and solid understanding of migration-related issues.

Language Requirements

Fluency in English (oral and written) is mandatory. Knowledge of Ukrainian and Russian languages is considered beneficial. Language proficiency will be formally assessed during the selection process.

Additional Information

  • The position is contingent upon funding availability.
  • Selection process may fill similar roles at varying duty stations and successful candidates remain eligible for related appointments for up to 24 months.
  • Appointment is subject to medical clearance, accreditation, security clearance, and residency/work permit compliance.
  • Only candidates with valid Irish residence and work permits can be considered.
  • Contract duration may be limited to the validity of the work permit.
