Role Overview

We invite qualified candidates for a full-time, on-site Zookeeper position at DNPJ - Direction nationale de la police judiciaire located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The incumbent will be responsible for the comprehensive care and supervision of a variety of animals, ensuring their well-being and habitat safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily husbandry duties including feeding and enclosure cleaning.
• Monitor animal health and behavior, promptly notifying supervisors or veterinary teams of any concerns.
• Assist with basic medical procedures as directed by veterinary staff.
• Support enrichment programs designed to encourage natural animal activities.
• Handle and facilitate safe transfer or movement of animals following established protocols.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records related to animal care.
• Participate in educational or outreach initiatives to promote awareness.
• Collaborate with team members to uphold high standards of animal welfare, safety, and hygiene.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven expertise in animal care and handling, comfortable working with diverse species and performing physically demanding tasks outdoors in various environmental conditions.
• Sound knowledge of zoology and wildlife conservation, including species-specific care requirements.
• Competence in observing and interpreting animal behaviors to detect signs of stress, illness, or routine changes for timely interventions.
• Relevant formal education or equivalent practical experience in zoology, animal science, veterinary technology, or a related discipline.
• Uphold meticulous record keeping and adhere strictly to safety, security, and regulatory standards.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, demonstrating commitment to ethical treatment and ongoing professional growth.
