Youth Worker

About the Role

The National Indigenous Training Academy (NITA), located at Ayers Rock Resort in Yulara, Northern Territory, is seeking a dedicated Youth Worker to live and work on-site. This role supports up to 80 trainees who reside in dormitory-style accommodations while completing their traineeship at the resort, near the culturally significant landmark of Uluru.

The Youth Worker's mission is to foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, ensuring trainees feel connected, safe, and proud throughout their trainee journey — from recruitment and orientation to graduation celebrations. By acting as a role model, you will promote values such as strong work ethic and take responsibility for maintaining residential facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate practical supports such as transportation to medical appointments to assist trainees in meeting their needs.
• Perform daily tasks to maintain the presentation and smooth running of the residential facility.
• Develop and deliver culturally safe activities that enhance the social, emotional, spiritual, and cultural well-being of trainees.
• Provide mentoring to trainees to help them successfully complete their traineeships and realize personal and professional ambitions.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates are passionate about supporting young adults, with an understanding of the unique strengths and challenges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth face, coupled with a willingness to listen and learn. Experience in social and emotional support work is essential.

A minimum qualification of Certificate III in Community Services or Youth Work is required. A Working with Vulnerable People check is mandatory prior to commencement.
