Team Overview
The Yard Operations team underpins hundreds of worldwide auctions annually. This dynamic team comprises various full and part-time roles necessary for executing high-value auctions, including equipment inspectors, yard managers, operators, administrative staff, and customer service professionals.
Role Summary
The Yard Staff at IAA perform vital roles outdoors, enjoying hands-on tasks involving vehicle handling. They prioritize a safety-first approach while operating speedily and efficiently. The role entails engaging with new technologies and contributing to the forefront of auction innovations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Check in vehicles by documenting and filing their information upon arrival to the facility.
- Thoroughly clean vehicles to enhance their presentation and auction value, with provided training.
- Safely operate passenger vehicles, driving them within the yard or during drive-through auctions.
- Collect and securely store keys, license plates, and other items from vehicles at the branch.
- Assist visitors by directing them appropriately or referring them to relevant personnel.
- Receive on-the-job training in forklift and loader operation to support yard logistics.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be authorized to drive as needed.
- An energetic, positive attitude is essential to ensure excellent customer interactions.
- Interest or basic knowledge of automobiles or mechanics is advantageous.
- Team collaboration skills are critical for operational success.
- While not required, experience or skills in automotive repair, equipment rental, or construction industries are favorable.
Physical and Safety Requirements
- Adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment correctly to safeguard assets and personnel.
- Recognize and respond effectively to unsafe situations to prevent accidents.
- Comply with industry regulations regarding hazardous materials handling.
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling weights ranging from 20 lbs up to occasionally over 100 lbs.
- Regular tasks include reaching, handling, standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, climbing, and crawling.
- Work is predominantly outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Maintain constant alertness to hazards from heavy and moving equipment in the workplace.
Working Conditions
- Work primarily occurs outdoors regardless of weather.
- Continuous vigilance for hazards from operational equipment and vehicles is required.
