Job Overview
The Yard Coordinator is tasked with supporting the inspection and management of incoming vehicles at the assigned branch. Key duties involve vehicle check-in, digital imaging, cleaning and preservation, auction preparation including numbering, and addressing customer needs effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Document and file details of new vehicles arriving at the facility during check-in.
- Thoroughly clean vehicles to enhance their condition and appeal ahead of auction events.
- Safely drive passenger vehicles within the premises for repositioning or auction activities.
- Prepare and set up vehicles including auction numbering for weekly or bi-weekly auctions.
- Retrieve and store keys, license plates, and related items securely in designated branch locations.
- Provide visitors with guidance or direct them appropriately for further assistance.
- Operate basic forklift or loader machinery as required.
- Comply with company policies and maintain safety and environmental standards consistently.
- Read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural documents to ensure workplace safety.
- Stay vigilant for any hazards involving heavy equipment or vehicles in the area.
- Achieve and maintain key performance metrics on daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.
- Learn forklift operation where required for the facility.
- Interact positively with customers and other team members.
- Assist in minor vehicle maintenance tasks.
- Perform physical activities including stooping, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Work across various weather conditions and surfaces, both indoors and outdoors.
- Maintain general mechanical knowledge of different vehicle makes and models.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member.
- Hold a valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles if required by the location.
- Implement appropriate security, maintenance, and safety procedures to protect company and customer assets.
- Utilize personal protective equipment properly and respond correctly to unsafe situations or accidents.
- Follow industry specific regulations for handling hazardous materials.
- Demonstrate leadership by mentoring and supporting the team in alignment with department objectives, albeit without direct people management responsibilities.
- Perform additional duties as business needs evolve, showing flexibility in task assignments.
Qualifications
- Possess 2-3 years of relevant work experience.
- Background in equipment rental, construction, or related sectors is preferred.
- Forklift operation experience is advantageous; willingness to learn forklift operation is essential.
- Basic skills in automotive repair.
- Proficiency in using handheld PDA devices.
- Strong ability to interact supportively with customers and internal teams.
- Capability to assist or carry out light vehicle maintenance.
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving bending, stooping, walking, and standing over extended durations.
- General mechanical understanding of various vehicle makes and models.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Comfort working year-round both indoors and outdoors, including climbing on and off large equipment and trucks.
