Job description
About the Role
We are seeking an inquisitive Writer/Journalist to join our editorial team full-time at our property news platform. You will cover the movers, deals, developments, trends, and ideas shaping real estate markets both in Singapore and the surrounding region. No prior property background is necessary; if you have an interest in business, investment, design, architecture, technology, or urban transformation, numerous stories await your exploration.
Primary Responsibilities
- Cover breaking news and feature stories while monitoring market trends.
- Consult and interview a variety of sources including developers, investors, architects, agents, analysts, and homeowners.
- Attend property launches, site tours, media briefings, and industry gatherings.
- Analyze transaction and market data to uncover compelling narratives behind figures.
- Translate complex topics into clear, captivating articles.
- Establish and nurture relationships with industry contacts over time.
- Propose and develop original stories, ranging from major deals and new developments to emerging neighbourhoods and evolving lifestyles.
- Collaborate with editors to refine your reporting, writing, and storytelling capabilities.
Candidate Profile
- Open to fresh graduates seeking an entry-level journalism position, emerging content writers or communication specialists interested in news reporting, journalists aiming to specialize in real estate, and freelance writers intending to pursue a full-time career.
- Possess curiosity about the world and a desire to understand not just events but their underlying causes.
- Exhibit strong writing skills capable of simplifying complex ideas while engaging readers effectively.
- Confident and proactive in engaging with new people, conducting interviews, and asking insightful questions.
- Resourceful in independently seeking answers and information.
Experience with campus publications, websites, newsletters, blogs, or other writing platforms is advantageous but not mandatory. A journalism degree is not required; what matters most is a solid portfolio, clear writing, initiative, inquisitiveness, and eagerness to learn.
Why Join Us
The property sector provides a unique lens to observe the transformation of buildings, neighborhoods, and communities. You will witness critical investment decisions, estate developments, and government policy impacts shaping our cities. You'll have opportunities to build a published journalism portfolio, develop a niche, cultivate industry contacts, and learn from experienced editors. This role offers the chance to establish a sustainable career specializing in real estate journalism covering Singapore and the wider region.
