Role Overview
Join our friendly and supportive team in Napier and help make a positive impact on tamariki, rangatahi, whānau, and communities across the region. This role focuses on delivering high-quality administrative assistance to social work kaimahi within Oranga Tamariki while advancing your professional administration skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage administrative duties for Social Work staff, including supporting financial plans, data gathering, and scheduling tasks.
- Coordinate with vendors, casual employees, and various stakeholders as needed.
- Engage and collaborate with diverse cultural groups and individuals from different backgrounds.
- Handle operational tasks such as booking meeting rooms, managing telephone calls, and providing reception desk assistance.
- Organize welcomes and whakatau events for new team members and whānau when required.
- Maintain professionalism and composure when addressing critical or sensitive situations.
Required Qualifications and Attributes
- Possession of a full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence (note: previous convictions may be reviewed individually).
- Active support for team health and safety initiatives.
- Proficient computer and IT skills.
- Competency in typical administrative functions such as typing, reporting, and responding to site needs.
- Demonstrated cultural awareness, especially understanding Tikanga Māori principles.
- Commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Strong time management capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the flexibility to adjust to various audiences.
- Appreciation and understanding of cross-cultural practices, particularly knowledge of Māori and Pacific peoples' cultures.
