Windows Engineer (VMware)

Role Overview

This position involves overseeing patching and vulnerability management specifically for Windows Server platforms and VMware ESXi environments. The primary responsibility is to maintain system integrity through timely updates and security compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer Windows and VMware infrastructure effectively.
• Manage and configure Windows servers (2008, 2012, 2016, 2019 versions) along with VMware ESXi environments.
• Handle Active Directory components including Organizational Units (OU), Group Policy Objects (GPO), and forest/domain configurations.
• Deploy and manage virtual machines using Hyper-V and VMware technologies.
• Implement comprehensive patching strategies and vulnerability management.
• Diagnose and resolve issues relating to operating systems and VMware platforms.
• Perform extensive patch management on ESXi, ensuring system security and stability.
• Use patch management tools like BigFix and SCCM to evaluate and implement patches.
• Automate pre-patching and post-patching tasks to optimize operational efficiency.
• Possess foundational knowledge related to RAID levels (RAID 0+1, RAID 1, RAID 5) and clustering mechanisms such as geo-cluster and multi-node passive/active setups.
• Conduct BIOS and firmware upgrades as needed.
• Utilize server management tools and maintain log monitoring for system health.

Candidate Profile

• Professional experience of 6 to 9 years in Windows System Administration roles.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with effective interpersonal abilities.
• Experience working in Service Level Agreement (SLA) driven environments.
• Adaptable team player capable of thriving in dynamic work settings.
• Willingness to participate in weekend shifts based on roster and provide on-call support during weekdays as required.
