Web Services Engineer - Localisation & Release Engineering

Role Summary

The Localization Automation team at Apple designs tools and technology to support the localisation and global delivery of products like iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, Vision Pro, and others worldwide. We are seeking an enthusiastic software engineer to advance Apple's localisation systems and processes on a large scale.

Job Description

In this dynamic, collaborative setting where precision, quality, and scalability are essential, you will develop critical services influencing nearly every Apple product. Your work will include creating and refining tools and enhancing existing platforms to ensure Apple experiences are seamless and native across global markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, develop, and sustain scalable backend web services.
• Enhance and evolve automation tools and workflows for localisation.
• Collaborate cross-departmentally with engineering teams to support new software capabilities.
• Diagnose and resolve complex system and integration challenges.
• Participate in architecture planning and guide long-term technical strategies.

Minimum Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or possess equivalent practical experience.
• Prior experience with backend frameworks like Ruby on Rails or Django.
• Strong interest in localisation, internationalisation, translation processes, and global markets.
• Experience working with machine learning, especially Large Language Models (LLMs).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leveraging generative AI tools to aid software development.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Ruby programming languages.
• Native or near-native command of one or more foreign languages.
• Documented success in delivering high-quality software products at scale.
