About the Role

At Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara, a property under the international hospitality group Minor Hotels, we are searching for a dedicated and enthusiastic Wave Pool Instructor. Minor Hotels manages over 530 properties worldwide, catering to a diverse clientele in more than 50 countries.

The Wave Pool Instructor will be responsible for overseeing activities at the wave pool, ensuring the safety of all guests, and delivering outstanding customer service. The role involves monitoring the pool environment, enforcing safety protocols, and assisting visitors for a secure and pleasant aquatic experience.

Primary Duties

  • Supervise all activities in the wave pool and enforce compliance with safety guidelines and operational procedures.
  • Conduct safety briefings and clearly communicate wave pool rules to visitors.
  • Continuously observe swimmers and pool conditions to prevent accidents and manage emergencies swiftly.
  • Help guests safely enter and exit the wave pool area.
  • Apply height, age, and other safety restrictions as stated by park policies.
  • React promptly and effectively to incidents, emergencies, and guest issues.
  • Carry out routine inspections of the wave pool area, including equipment, flotation aids, and safety signage.
  • Collaborate with lifeguards, operational teams, and maintenance personnel to ensure smooth pool operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderly appearance of pool decks and surrounding guest areas.
  • Document incidents, maintenance issues, and prepare daily operation reports.
  • Assist with special events, aquatic programs, and group activities as needed.
  • Promote excellent guest service to foster a welcoming environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior involvement in aquatic centers, water parks, swim instruction, or guest services preferred.
  • Lifeguard certification is essential or candidates must be willing to obtain it prior to hiring.
  • CPR, First Aid, and water rescue certifications are advantageous.
  • Proficient swimming skills and a solid understanding of water safety measures.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests and team members.
  • Ability to maintain vigilance and stay composed during emergency situations.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and peak periods.
