This exciting opportunity is for a Water Infrastructure Engineer to become part of our national water team located in Wellington or Christchurch, with potential consideration for other locations where our company operates.

Role Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, designing, and executing water infrastructure projects including water supply, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
• Contribute to the design of pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, and related infrastructure components.
• Perform engineering analyses, calculations, and compile documentation to support project delivery.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications aligned with project needs.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project outcomes.
• Support project delivery processes, maintaining adherence to quality, safety, and risk management protocols.
• Engage with internal stakeholders and assist in client communications during project execution.
• Build and sustain strong business relationships with existing and prospective clients to secure necessary project engagements.
• Fulfill office and on-site duties, cooperating with virtual teams across national and international company offices.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to graduate design engineers, fostering their professional growth.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an emerging engineer with a solid grounding in civil or water engineering, eager to enhance their expertise in infrastructure delivery. Demonstrating sound engineering judgement, they will address complex issues pragmatically, aligning with professional standards. The role suits those who thrive in collaborative settings, demonstrate accountability for their work, and possess a commitment to generating positive outcomes for clients and communities.

• Possess a relevant university degree in Civil Engineering.
• Have a minimum of four years’ experience in water infrastructure design or execution within consulting or infrastructure sectors.
• Understand water, wastewater, and/or stormwater systems including applicable design standards.
• Capable of conducting engineering analyses and contributing to practical, constructible designs.
• Exhibit strong communication and teamwork capabilities.
• Adopt a proactive stance towards continuous learning and career development.
• Skilled in design software such as 12D, Civil3D, AutoCAD, and GIS platforms.
• Show strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively and meet deadlines consistently.
• Demonstrate initiative and personal ownership over projects and responsibilities.
• Bring energy, self-motivation, and adaptability to address challenges flexibly.
